Dave currently works (super part time) as a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge and picks up many and varied performing/workshopping/adjudicating contracts as they appear!
Even though Dave is “long in the tooth”, he well recalls his own attendance at Provincial One Act Festivals in Saskatchewan as a high school student between 1980 – 1983. That included a recommendation to attend workshops and job shadowing in Stratford, Ontario in the summer of ’83. That experience was very valuable for a young developing performer! While those formative years are quite distant now (over four decades!), he hasn’t forgotten that excitement of being there and participating in those growth opportunities. As a result, Dave is excited to meet and engage with the bright, talented and dedicated young performers from all across the province at this festival!
Upcoming: Dave will be Directing for Phoenix Arts Co. with their company’s premiere production of “Newsies” in July. Given all of the above, he would truly tell you that he is an incredibly fortunate human being.
Dave encourages the people he gets to work with to work on three fundamentals:
-
Know their “why”;
-
Take responsibility for their creative process and reflect on it constantly; and
-
Aim For Growth!
